Weather in San Francisco




San Francisco enjoys a relatively mild weather year-round; so to visitors winters are cool to cold and summers are mild. The climate is very similar to coastal areas on the Mediterranean. In most months, you can expect the temperature be in the 60 or 70º F (15 and 25º C) or fall below 40º C (5º C).

The San Francisco weather is influenced by the cold Pacific currents caught in conflict with the mainland heat, this combination creates foggy conditions that blanket the city during summer and early autumn. Still, compared to most of the states' weather conditions, San Francisco's weather is consistently pleasant.

San Francisco Spring
(March-May): Spring is an excellent time of year for weather; some of the driest and warmest days of the year occur in San Francisco's spring months, the San Francisco weather in these months is a tourist's delight.

San Francisco Summer
(June-August): Summertime in San Francisco is characteristically overcast and cool, persistent fog rolls often envelops the city in most mornings and evenings, rains in summer are rare. During this season San Francisco is most frequented by tourists and enthusiasts,

San Francisco Fall
(September-November): Fall is probably the best period to visit San Francisco. Days are warm, sunny and the fog isn't prevalent, nights are mild and clear making September, October and early November the three best months to visit San Francisco.

San Francisco Winter
(December-February): During winter, temperatures are quite temperate, rain is abundant and storms are common. On the whole, San Francisco winters are mild compared to the rest of the country, days between storms cab be sunny and crisp, the foggy cloud is less common than that of summer, snow is almost unheard of.
